Brother and ex-partner charged with alleged home invasion - Lavington

A man’s ex-girlfriend and brother have been charged with allegedly breaking into his home while he slept and assaulting him with a baseball bat.

Just before 4am yesterday (Sunday 25 June 2017), a 26-year-old man was sleeping in his home on McDonald Road, Lavington, when he was awoken by a man in a balaclava hitting him with a baseball bat.

A struggle ensued and the armed man allegedly smashed a window with the bat before leaving in a car being driven by a woman.

The injured man was treated by Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Albury Base Hospital with a head wound that required stitches.

Albury Detectives investigated the matter and as a result of their inquiries, arrested a man and woman; both aged 25.

They have both been charged with special aggravation – break and enter commit serious indictable offence.

The pair is due to face Albury Local Court today (Monday 26 June 2017).

The accused man is the brother of the injured man, whilst the accused woman is the injured man’s ex-partner.
