Child approach - Summer Hill

Police are appealing after a child approach in Sydney’s inner west.

About 8.40am today (Thursday 1 June 2017), an 11-year-old girl was outside a premises on Bartlett Street, Summer Hill, when she was approached by a man.

The man produced a knife from his coat and coaxed the girl to come over to him.

The girl turned to run away, at which point the man reached out and tried to grab her, but missed.

The girl ran away and later reported the incident at her school.

Police from Ashfield Local Area Command commenced inquiries.

The man is described as Asian appearance, 30-40 years old, 165cm tall, with short black hair, brown skin, a red mark on the right side of his face, brown eyes, and he was wearing a long black coat that hung past his knees, black pants and a red and blue coloured chequered shirt.
