Man charged with sexual and indecent assault of two young girls - Child Abuse Squad

A man will face court today after being charged over the alleged sexual and indecent assault of two young girls in Sydney’s south-west.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad commenced an investigation following reports two girls – aged eight and nine – were sexually and indecently assaulted by a man known to them.

Following extensive inquiries, a 55-year-old man was arrested at a home at Cabramatta about 10.45am yesterday (Wednesday 31 May 2017).

He was charged with sexual intercourse with child under 10 and indecent assault person under 16 years.

Police will allege the man, who is a friend of the family, sexually and indecently assaulted the girls during a visit to his home earlier this month.

The man was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Thursday 1 June 2017).

The Child Abuse Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate crimes against children, including sexual assault, physical abuse and serious cases of neglect.
