Fatal collision - Tumbulgum.

A driver has died after a motor vehicle collision at Tumbulgum in the states far north today.

About 7.00am (Wednesday 31 May 2017) a truck and car were travelling on the Tweed Valley Way, Tumbulgum, when they were involved in a head-on collision.

The 45-year-old male driver of the SUV died at the scene, and the 38-year-old driver of the Tip truck was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital with serious leg injuries.

Officers from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command established a crime scene with specialist crash investigators in attendance.

Investigations are continuing and police are appealing for witnesses to contact Tweed/Byron Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
