Police are continuing their investigations into a triple fatality that occurred in the State’s far north.

Shortly after 6am (Monday 29 May 2017), emergency services were called to the Newell Highway, Boggabilla, following reports of a crash.

Investigations suggest a fuel-tanker that was travelling south on the highway and Pantech truck towing a trailer collided head-on.

It appears the tanker then rolled onto a Land Cruiser 4WD that was travelling behind the Pantech truck.

The driver and passenger of the 4WD, aged 17 and 15, both women, died at the scene.

The 19-year-old driver of the Pantech also died at the scene.

The 32-year-old driver of the fuel tanker was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Goondiwindi Hospital.

He was later airlifted to Toowoomba Hospital suffering shoulder injuries.

A crime scene was established while investigations were carried out by officers from the Crash Investigations Unit from Oxley.

Officers continue their investigations.
