Three youths charged over convenience store robbery – Campbelltown

Three teenagers have been charged in relation to a robbery in Sydney’s south west yesterday (Saturday 7 November).

About 12.45am, a number of youths armed with a hammer and knife entered a convenience store in Queen Street, Campbelltown and threatened a male employee.

During the incident, a hammer was allegedly thrown at the victim’s head causing a wound to his left eye.

The offenders then stole a quantity of cash, confectionary and personal items before fleeing the shop.

Police from Campbelltown Local Area Command were alerted to the incident and were quickly on scene.

The injured man was taken to Campbelltown Hospital after sustaining an eye injury and a suspected fractured skull.

Three male youths, one aged 15 and two aged 16, were arrested a short time later in nearby Koshigaya Park before being taken to Campbelltown Police Station.

A 16-year-old Claymore male was charged with robbery whilst armed.

A 15-year-old Airds male was charged with robbery with an offensive weapon. He was also charged with a further two counts of robbery in company that occurred near Macarthur Railway Station on 28 September 2009.

Another 16-year-old Claymore youth was charged with dealing with the proceeds of crime.

All three youths were refused bail and are due to appear at Parramatta Children’s Court today.
