Strike Force Stitz investigates man’s death – Cessnock
Thursday, 05 Nov 2009 11:05amPolice have established a Strike Force following the death of a man in Cessnock last night.
Strike Force Stitz, comprising detectives from Central Hunter Local Area Command with assistance of investigators from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
About 11:45pm last night (Wednesday 4 November), police and paramedics attended premises on Cumberland Street, Cessnock after receiving a phone call from a member of the public.
Upon arrival, police found a 30-year-old man suffering a stab wound. He was taken to Cessnock Hospital where he later died.
A crime scene was established with detectives and specialist forensic officers examining the scene.
A 28-year-old woman has been assisting police with their inquiries and investigations into the man’s death are continuing.
A post mortem examination will be conducted and a report is being prepared for the information of the Coroner.
