Drowning – Coffs Harbour
Thursday, 05 Nov 2009 05:26amPolice officers from the Coffs Harbour Local Area Command will prepare a report for the Coroner following the drowning of a 27-year-old man at a beach yesterday.
Shortly after 5pm on Wednesday 4 November emergency services were called to Red Rock Beach, north of Coffs Harbour.
Police believe that a group of people had been swimming and riding body boards at the beach when one of the men was washed into a rip.
An off-duty lifeguard was able to pull the man from the water and onto his surfboard. He paddled to a rock formation and, after raising the alarm, commenced resuscitation.
The man, a Korean national, could not be revived.
Police from Coffs Harbour Local Area Command will prepare a report outlining the full circumstances of the incident for the information of the Coroner.
