Police arrange fundraising event for Kabealo family after Tumbulgum accident

Tweed/Byron police are having a fund raising movie day to raise money for the Kabealo family, after three members were killed in a tragic motor vehicle accident at Tumbulgum earlier this month.

Matthew Kabealo and his daughter Chloe, aged 8, lost mother Stephanie, as well as siblings Ella-Jane, aged 11, and Jacob, aged 7, in the tragic incident in which young Chloe was the only survivor.

They are also raising funds for the Mayor's flood relief fund.

They will be holding the fund raising movie screening at the HOYTS cinemas at Tweed City on the 23rd April 2017 at 9.30am for a 10am screening time. The movie being screened will be “The Boss Baby".

HOYTS have kindly provided their two largest cinemas with a seating capacity of 580 seats.

Tickets are $24.00 plus $1.50 booking fee ($25.50).


At the end of the movie they will be holding an auction for items donated by the local community, local businesses, NRL football clubs, AFL clubs and more.

They currently have the following items for auction:

-Signed Gold Coast Suns AFL team jersey,
-Signed Brisbane Broncos NRL team jersey,

-Restaurant vouchers from Twin Town, Seagulls leagues, Tweed Bowls Club,
-Tweed Heads HOYTS family movie pass,
-Two family passes from Donna & Kurt Tutt from Go Sea Kayak Byron Bay.

Inspector Brendon Cullen, from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command has urged the community to get behind the fundraising effort.

“Let’s come together as a community and do all we can to help this family who have suffered a devastating loss,” Inspector Cullen said.
