Driving and Road Safety

Drink driving

The best place to start looking for information about drink driving and road safety is the Roads and Traffic Authority.
Go to: www.rta.nsw.gov.au/roadsafety/alcoholdrugs/drinkdriving

Pedestrian safety

Many pedestrians who are injured or killed were affected by alcohol at the time of the accident. For information and advice about this important issue, go to: www.rta.nsw.gov.au/roadsafety/pedestrians/pedestriansafety/vulnerablepedestrians/alcohol_affected.html and NRMA fact sheet on intoxicated pedestrians: http://www.mynrma.com.au/cps/rde/xbcr/SID-3F5768EC-96B109B1/mynrma/intoxicated_pedestrians.pdf

Safe transport options

There are more safe transport options available these days, making it easier for people to socialise and get home safely. Your local Council may have information about what services are available in your area. You can also check out your local Liquor Accord  as many Accords operate safe transport programs. It is a good idea to plan your transport options before you leave home. Here are some websites that will help you plan your safe transport:
