Creating a report
I am uploading an attachment and have received a message stating my file doesn't meet the format requirements. What are the acceptable file formats?
You can upload the following file types as part of your report:
- Photos: JPG, PNG, GIF, TIF
- Video: MP4, MOV, AVI, MPEG, WMV, MKV, M4V
- Documents: DOC, DOCX, PDF, TXT, XLS, CSV, PPT, PPTX, Outlook Email MSG
- Audio: MP3, AAC, FLAC, WMA, WAV
You can upload up to 15 files. Total upload size of all files must not exceed 20MB.
I have an iPhone 3 and having difficulty using the Portal. Is there a minimum requirement to using the NSW Police Force Community Portal?
Unfortunately the NSW Police Force Community Portal isn't compatible with older technologies. However, you will be able to create a report using the following on Windows XP, 7, 8 and 10.
- Internet Explorer 9, 11
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox v18+
- Safari v5+
Is there a timeframe for lodging for creating a report after it has happened?
You should report as soon as possible. It is critical that the NSW Police Force receive your request at the first opportunity after the incident has occurred. This allows NSW Police Officers to conduct their investigations qucker and improve the chances of a positive result.
I am trying to create a report for an incident that occurred when I was on holiday in another state. Can I create this report online within the NSW Police Force Community Portal?
For an incident that that occurs interstate, these reports should be submitted in the state the incident occurred in. The NSW Police Force Community Portal can accept Lost Property reports that occur interstate.
Can I create an online report for Suspicious Activity?
You can create the online report as you always have via the Crime Stoppers website, however a link is now available on the front of the NSW Police Force Community Portal.
