Firearms & Other Weapons

If you have been threatened with a firearm, spear-gun, cross bow or other weapon in your relationship, then you are at risk of future serious harm.

If your partner owns or has access to firearms and you are concerned that their behaviour is repeatedly abusive or threatening towards you or your family members or any other person, then your partner represents a real threat to your safety. In fact, in these circumstances your partner may not be considered a fit and proper person to continue to hold a firearms licence.

NSW Firearms Registry

The Firearms Registry administers the NSW Firearms legislation and issues firearms licences and permits.

The Registry is open for business between 8:30 am and 4.30 pm Monday – Friday, except public holidays.

The Registry offer services, including:

• Providing advice about licences, firearms and permits.
• Providing updates on firearm related matters.
• Issuing firearm licences and permits to individuals, clubs, businesses and firearms dealers.
• Registering firearms to all of the above.
• Issuing permits to acquire firearms.
• Customs clearances for imported firearms.
