Blue Light began in NSW in 1983 and has provided a strong Police and Community partnership ever since. Blue Light aims to provide the young people of NSW with entertainment in an environment free from drugs, alcohol, intimidation and anti-social behaviour in partnership with NSW Police and the wider community.
Blue Light has evolved to include both off duty and on duty police working together with community volunteers to provide events. 2003 saw Blue Light reformed and become owned and operated as a policing program.
There are currently 43 branches operating throughout NSW providing events such as Disco's, Movie Marathons, Pool Parties Camps, Debating, Markets & Stalls and much more.
Blue Light's major sponsorship includes production and distribution of 'Kidsmart' Year 5/6 and 'Streetsmart' Yr11/12 handbooks that are distributed free of charge to NSW Schools.
How do you become involved?
Simple...approach your Youth Liaison Officer or Local Police station with an identified Youth need and gain support from the Local Area Commander. This will further build positive relationships between police and young people.
