  • ...It's not until you actually see that moment when someone's got a loaded gun in their hand and police have to make a split second decision on whether or not they shoot and take a life...it's given me an appreciation of the pressures they're facing.
  • I thought I knew something about the Police Force but I knew very little. Now I have a better insight into the decision making processes and the difficulties police face every day on the streets and I thank them for that.
  • Footballers get to train and train and then play on the weekend. Police spend a lot of time training and training, hopefully for things that never happen so they never get the match practice. But I think we all have to be impressed at the amount of preparation put into being ready should something terrible happen.
  • It's been very open and there's been ample opportunity to ask hard questions and soft questions...(this) was a great opportunity to get a real insight into the NSW Police Force.
  • Amazing to see how well trained these officers are and the professionalism of all of them.
  • I believe it gave us a great insight into the roles and responsibilities of officers and the problems they face.
  • The Dog Unit is great. I wish we had more on the streets to help fight the drug presence in Australia.
  • I always knew what the role of a police officer is, but to be put into a face to face, hands on scenario and see how decisions are made and what resources are available to complete a task was an invaluable experience.
  • I never knew how much work went into a search and rescue operation and how many obstacles police have to deal with.
  • I never knew how important the presence of the Riot Squad is in tough situations. I also never knew how many different areas their skills are needed in.

  • Any opportunity to show members of the public the complexity of policing and, in this instance, operational command can only be of benefit to our organisation.
  • I believe the whole concept of CAPP is a great idea and will create better understanding of policing and the problems we deal with on a daily basis. Hopefully this will lead to empathy towards police officers and the role we play in modern society. It also builds bridges between the police and high profile members of the public who have great influence on the general public.
  • I believe CAPP is a brilliant initiative, which can only enhance the community's understanding of what police do and how difficult the role can be without the cooperation of the public we serve. Greater understanding of and empathy with police officers and our role within society must surely positively affect members of the public and their willingness to communicate with us, thereby making us more effective at our core business.
