Ethnic Affairs Priority Statement
Policing in a culturally and linguistically diverse society
NSW Police Priorities for Working in a Culturally, Linguistically and Religiously Diverse Society 2006-2009 is NSW Police’s commitment to culturally responsive policing. Culturally responsive policing is not an alternative way of policing but means that police are able to use a range of skills and strategies to respond to the needs of the people they are working with, both in terms of the community and colleagues.
The NSW Police Ethnic Affairs Priorities Statement (EAPS) Forward Plan 2006-2009 is incorporated into this document, outlining the strategies that will be implemented over a three-year period to equip police with the skills to be culturally responsive in the course of their duties. The plan also holds NSW Police accountable for its overall approach to meeting the policing needs of diverse communities across NSW.
