Police Officer of the Year 2010 Winners

 

The winners of the first statewide version of these prestigious awards will be announced at a gala event in Sydney tonight.
Hosted by the Rotary Club of Sydney, police officers, administrative staff and volunteers who go above and beyond when performing their duties will be honoured at this event.

Rotary Clubs of NSW selected winners in four categories, as well as the overall Police Officer of the Year Award.
The overall award is the culmination of more than 130 nominations from across NSW, each highlighting the outstanding work undertaken by NSW police every day.

Field Operations Local Area Command Police Officer of the Year 

Winner: Detective Senior Constable Jason Brooks from Cabramatta LAC

This award is to recognise the outstanding contribution of officers attached to the local area commands, which include general duties, criminal investigators and other officers who operate in the local area command environment.

Specialist Operations/Corporate Services Non Local Area Command Police Officer of the Year 

Winner: A/Snr Sgt Kristy Walters, PoliceLink 

This award is to recognise the outstanding contribution of officers attached to the Specialist Operations/Corporate Services commands, which include general duties, criminal investigators and other officers who operate in the non local area command environment.

The Rotary Clubs of NSW Volunteer in Policing Volunteer of the Year Award 

Winner: Iris-May Vanden Berg VIP, Parramatta LAC

This award is to recognise the outstanding efforts of the NSW Police Force Volunteers in Policing Program. These volunteers assist the Force in their own time and ensure the community of NSW is best served by police. They assist in all avenues of community interaction, safety assessments and various duties at both local area commands and specialist units. The work of VIPs is a credit to them all and has provided the NSW Police Force with support and assistance on a day to day basis.

Rotary Community Award 

Winner: Leading Senior Constable Tiffany Duane, Fairfield LAC

This award recognises the efforts of all employees of the NSW Police Force, both sworn and unsworn. It is an additional award whereby the efforts of a member of the Force are identified through their work which specifically benefits the community through a program or initiative.

NSW Rotary Police Officer of the Year

Winner: Detective Senior Constable Jason Brooks from Cabramatta LAC

This award is the culmination of in excess of 130 nominations from across NSW. The nominations have highlighted the outstanding work that is undertaken by police every day across the state. The award is the overall winner across both the local area commands and non local area commands.
