The Workforce Improvement Program is funded by the NSW Government and was initially aimed at improving the injury management process following changes to the Death & Disability workers compensation arrangements.
Now in its second tranche of funding the Workforce Improvement Program has implemented and continues to develop innovative safety, health & wellbeing initiatives that are focused on prevention and early intervention of both physical and psychological injury.
Initiatives such as the RECON clinics, which are delivered by experts in the fields of physiotherapy, strength & conditioning, psychology and diet in three regions; Central Metropolitan, South West Metropolitan and Northern deliver three streams of business: Reconditioning, Reconnect and Restart. The clinics have been very successful in reducing the time taken for officers to get back to operational duties or meaningful work when injured in the workplace.
Early success of the RECON clinics led to the engagement of NSW Police Force insurers, Employers Mutual Limited (EML) and icare who have supported the continuance of these services financially.
The Workforce Improvement Program has been independently reviewed, receiving commendable recommendations and feedback.
