2009 Web Survey Results
Earlier this year, the NSW Police Force (NSWPF) placed a survey on the website asking visitors to tell us what they think of our online offering. We wanted to know people's opinions of the site; likes and dislikes, positives and negatives - and what they would like to see in the future.
With our website being one of the largest policing sites in the English-speaking world, feedback lets the organisation build on strengths and address weaknesses. Below provides a summary of the many responses that were received:
What we're doing well
The majority of respondents like the overall look of the site, with 79% agreeing that they either moderately or extremely like the site's design.
Flowing on from this, three-quarters of those surveyed rated their experience on the site as very good or excellent; and a similar number agreed that it was moderately to very easy to find the information that they were after.
Where we need to improve
Respondents told us that they would like to see the Search and How To sections improved. When asked what functions that they'd like to see added to the site, popular responses were video and audio features and the ability to upload images and video of crimes that people had witnessed.
Where to from here
We're always looking at ways to improve communication with the public and make it easier to interact with police. Since the survey, a number of functions have been added to the site to enhance visitor experience. These features include:
- Improved ways to report crime via the ability to upload images and video of crimes witnessed
- Better delivery of multimedia content via the NSWPF YouTube channel
- More ways to keep up to date with NSWPF news including via Twitter
- Better search functionality through the integration of Google Custom search into the website
We're also working on improving the look and feel of the site, and also providing more information on crime statistics in your suburb. Keep visiting to check our progress.
